Many years ago, I used to be a member of the RSME and used to visit the facility on a monthly basis. The RSME instilled a sense of gratitude and fulfilment in that being a trained aircraft maintenance technician, I did not know it all and the process of learning all about steam was a very interesting past time. There was a little loco for sale called Dixie at the time, and I duly bought her and proceeded to cut my teeth with all things steam. I still have Dixie in my possession to this very day.
The members then urged me to build my own loco, which took me the next 4 years to complete. During this time I had to teach myself how to operate a lathe and a milling machine which was very very interesting indeed. Tutorials were supplied by people like Ian Cornell, Frank Mundell plus many others who I can no longer put names to. (Getting Old).
The "CLISHAY", is based on the Shay family of American logging locos. The locomotive has vertical boiler (Water tubes) and has 2 cylinders which works through a tumbler gearbox which in turn drives two bogies with 4 driven wheels each. As far I know, she is the only one of her type in the country.
I am open to offers which will be considered. The Clishay also comes with a riding car constructed out of aluminium and has a sizeable stainless steel water tank built in.
